Progress Update

A quick update from the spec fic corner down under…

My manuscript is at the Doctor. That is; my manuscript is off for its final edit from a pro. Yes, I found an editor who seems to offer quality work at a fair price! I’m very excited to see what she comes back with and I was very impressed by her initial sample edit. Fingers crossed I’ve got me a keeper for future books I have planned…

Which brings me to the next update. I made a spreadsheet today to chart, map, and otherwise organise the books I have outlined, drafted or planned, that will one day (hopefully) form my portfolio. Or collection. Or whatever you call all the books you’ve written. The list currently stands at fourteen. Gulp. All I can say is I’m glad I’m only 38 because it looks like I’ll be writing in my 90s!

Still, with Guns of Perdition looking more and more likely to see a 2019 release, I guess fourteen books on the horizon isn’t too much of an ask.

Also, on the update front, I’ve finished reading one of the books in my TBR pile and will have a review coming soon, so watch this space.

And now, to celebrate GoP heading off for its final polish, here’s a snippet from my new WIP; Armageddon Showdown Book II – Sins of the Lamb:

Grace sneered and waved a hand. Kaga ripped out the Sinner’s throat.

Frothy arterial blood arced across the ground as Sloth shoved the wolf away and slapped his hands to his ruined throat. He gurgled a scream and stared up at Grace with wide eyes.

Kaga retreated from the gushing blood, his maw dripping with gore.

Abigail closed her eyes for a moment and swallowed her gorge.

A strange, gurgling chortle drew her attention. Abigail opened her eyes and they widened in shock. Sloth sat in a pool of blood, his hands still pressed against his lacerated throat, and smiled. More than smiled—he chuckled. Blood spurted out his mouth as he laughed and he seemed no worse off for having a great hole ripped in his throat. Blood, now deep red and thick, squeezed through his fingers as he sat there laughing.

  1. Yay. And fourteen books is more than doable, Jess. One result of all this editing/suffering is that you’re learning the craft, and your writing is going to improve right out of the chute (that’s what happened to me anyway). So you’re going to get books finished faster and with less pain. I’m so excited for you. It feels good, doesn’t it? You’re on the final stretch! Great snippet. 😀

    1. You’re so right. Writing this next one is not so much ‘easier’ but I’m avoiding doing things that I know I’d have to go back and fix in editing later, so yeah, editing time should be reduced. Again, a huge thanks to you 😉
